Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a training course specifically for new drivers. It was designed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) with the help of insurers and driving instructors. Pass Plus builds upon your existing skills and knowledge. It teaches you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards – so you become a safer and more confident driver.
The course consists of 6 practical modules:
– Driving on motorways
– Driving on dual carriageways
– Driving in built-up areas
– Driving on rural roads
– Driving at night
– Driving in all weathers
Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course, but you will be continually assessed and must successfully complete each module to the required standard.
When you have successfully completed the course, it's worth checking with your insurance company as you may be eligible for a discount. The amount you save will depend on the insurer, but you may even save more than you paid for the course!
The Pass Plus course provides 6 hours of tution and costs £300.
As a learner driver, you need to pass your theory test before you can book your practical driving test.
The theory test consists of two parts – 50 multiple choice questions and a pratical hazard perception test. To pass, you must pass both parts together.
